29-YEAR OLD SERIOUSLY INJURED IN ACCIDENT
A 29-year-old male, who has been identified as Mitchell C. Dairy, Freeman, sustained life-threatening injuries and charges are pending against Freeman 23-year-old Amy Mehlhaf following a two-vehicle accident south of Freeman late Monday night, July 20.
According to the South Dakota Department of Public Safety, Mehlhaf was westbound in a Jeep Cherokee on 283rd St. — a gravel road — and failed to yield for a yield sign. The Jeep collided with a southbound Chevrolet Silverado, sending both vehicles into the west ditch. The accident occurred at approximately 10:15 p.m. three miles south of Valley View Golf Course.
Dairy was not wearing a seatbelt and was partially ejected. He was transported to Freeman Medical Center and then airlifted to Sioux Falls.
Mehlhaf, who was wearing a seatbelt, was not injured.
