FLYERS LOSE THRILLER; BEARCATS SWEPT
Freeman built a 2-0 lead over unbeaten Gayville-Volin in Gayville Thursday night, Sept. 10, but the Raiders rallied to take the win in a thrilling volleyball match featuring two good teams.
The Raiders (5-0) won 23-25, 23-25, 25-23, 25-16, 17-15.
For the Flyers (3-2), Rijjy Peterson led the way with 18 kills, three blocks and 29 digs. Mesa Mehlhaf had eight kills while Oddy Pankratz recorded six kills and 23 set assists. Ava Ammann tallied 17 set assists while Lily Wipf had 20 digs.
Also Thursday night, Freeman Academy/Marion lost its second match of the season, falling to Scotland 9-25, 8-25, 16-25. The Bearcats dropped to 0-2 while the Highlanders improved to 3-2. For the FA/Marion, Alexa Gortmaker had one kill, Maria Cortes had four set assists and Alivea Weber had seven digs and three ace serves.
