BOARD ACCEPTS MASSEY RESIGNATION, EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY
As expected, the Freeman Public School Board accepted the resignation of Will Massey in special session Wednesday night, Feb. 3, effective immediately. It was the only action item on the agenda.
Massey had been the dean of students, math teacher and head boys basketball coach.
Massey has been absent in recent weeks; assistant coach Mitchell Johnson was in his place for the Flyers’ game in Menno on Thursday, Jan. 21. Johnson was announced as the head coach during the livestream of Freeman’s game at Canton on Jan. 29. Monday night against Scotland, Grant Johnson was announced as Mitchell Johnson’s assistant coach during the starting lineups.
Freeman Public School officials have not commented on the status of Massey, citing it as a “personnel issue.”
When reached for comment, Massey said his resignation was for personal reasons and that had had no other comment.
