The Freeman High School girls basketball teams stands united during the playing of the national anthem prior to Monday night’s Region 5B game against Canistota. The Flyers and Hawks played to a 21-21 halftime tie and Canistota scored the first bucket of the third period, but Freeman ran away with the game late, outscoring the Hawks 19-8 in the fourth period en route to a 55-40 win. Kate Miller’s 19 points and 15 rebounds led the Flyers while Erin Uecker had a nice game with 11 points, nine rebounds and four assists. Cara Maske connected on three three-pointers and had three steals while Rijjy Peterson went for eight points, eight rebounds and four assists in the final home game of their prep careers.
Freeman travels to Hurley tonight to face No. 1-seed Viborg-Hurley. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast on Viborg-Hurley’s NFHS Network page.
