PHOTO OF THE DAY: CHANGE ON THE WAY
The Courier confirmed Tuesday morning that the Main Street property known as Doc’s Bar has been sold. Lawrence West, who owns Watecha Bowl and several food trucks in Sioux Falls, is planning to renovate the building and reopen as The Whiskey House this fall. West, who works in partnership with his wife, Sophie, said he took possession of the property Tuesday, July 20 and will operate the business as a bar and restaurant featuring buffalo, BBQ, ribs, steaks, as well as some of the traditional American Indian fare served in Sioux Falls, like fry bread, Indian tacos and soups. “We’re foodies more than we are bartenders,” said West, 33. “That aspect will definitely travel with us from Sioux Falls to Freeman.” Watch for more on this in this week’s Courier.
