NEW: PLANS UNDERWAY FOR SCHMECKFEST FOOD SALES
Freeman Academy Auxiliary officials say canceling the traditional Schmeckfest for another year was a difficult decision, but they are happy to be making plans for a “Schmeck Stop” — including a walk-in Country Kitchen market along with homemade sausage sales. The dates have been set for two Saturdays, March 26 and April 2, from 2 to 7 p.m. This alternative to Schmeckfest gives the opportunity to stop by and stock up on Schmeckfest favorites.
In addition to food sales, tickets will be available late this week for a carry-out-only “mini” Schmeckfest meal that includes sausage, knepf, stewed beef and sauerkraut. The carry-out meal will be limited to 350 meals each Saturday, March 26 or April 2. Meals may be picked up from 4 to 7 p.m.
Tickets for the meal were expected to be available late this week at schmeckfest.com. Watch the Courier, Facebook and the Schmeckfest website for more updates on ordering the meal. Information for ordering homemade sausage will appear in future issues of The Courier. For inquiries, call and leave message for Kathy Kleinsasser, 605-925-7952.
