PHOTO OF THE DAY: DIRTY WORK
A worker from Superior Sawing and Sealing, a Mora, Minn.-based company, works Monday to blast out dust and other debris that had settled into the joints on the new Main Street roadway in preparation for an asphalt sealant that will be installed in the incoming week. Meanwhile, progress on the sidewalks and extended curbs has been delayed as general contractor Reede Construction waits for the arrival of the crew charged with that task. Paul Korn of Sayre Associates said Big Al’s Concrete is the subcontractor hired for the sidewalk installation and that Reede Construction was looking for a secondary contractor to help expedite the process. As of Tuesday, Korn said he was under the impression that a crew would be in town sometime this week, and if that holds true, the Main Street business district would be two-and-a-half weeks away from being opened to traffic. Korn noted that the rationing of concrete because of a shortage is not the reason for the delay.
