SOCCER TEAM ELIMINATED IN PLAYOFFS
A successful soccer season at Freeman Academy came to an end in Rapid City Tuesday evening, Oct. 4 when the Bobcats fell to St. Thomas More 7-0 in the opening round of the playoffs. St. Thomas More was the No. 3 seed with a 9-4 record while Freeman Academy entered the postseason as the No. 6 seed and with a 6-3 record.
Head coach Scott Dent said, despite the score, his team played well in what was an emotional loss. “The game ended with tears in the eyes of our seniors all realizing it’s their last game. Tears in the eyes of my 18-year-old who realized it’s the last time she will call me coach. Smiles on the faces of all of us realizing that we accomplished more than we thought we could this year. That sums up our season more than anything.”
The FA soccer team includes players from Freeman Public, Marion and Parker.
