PHOTO OF THE DAY: GROUND WORK
Dirt work to bring the Westward View Housing Development to its final elevation has been intensifying in the past week as Knodel Contractors has been on site of the 14-acre project west of the water tower to see it completed before winter. This photo was taken Thursday morning. “This is the highest land in Freeman and it has been built up even more,” said Carol Eisenbeis, the city’s marketing and development coordinator. “Anyone living there will never have to worry about water in their basement, and they’ll always have this opportunity to live in a place that is surrounded by tranquil farm fields, you can see the big sky and you have some privacy. There are a lot of assets to living in that area.”
In the bid process, the city of Freeman committed to spending roughly $900,000 to develop the property, which is owned by the Freeman Community Development Corporation. The property was purchased by the FCDC after receiving funding from the Freeman Growth Foundation.
