SCOTLAND EDGES FREEMAN GIRLS
The Freeman Public girls led at the end of each of the first three quarters and held a five-point lead with 1:30 to play, but Scotland won the rest of the night — and the game — by a score of 35-33 Tuesday night, Jan. 31 in Scotland.
The Flyers held a 10-2 advantage early, led 10-7 at the end of the first quarter, 20-19 at the half and 24-21 at the end of the third quarter. But the Highlanders outscored Freeman 14-9 the rest of the way and survived a last-second, deep three-point attempt that would have won the game to claim the win. The loss drops Freeman to 9-6 while the Highlanders improve to 9-6.
Senior Kate Miller had 11 points and 4 assists to lead the Flyers. Senior Erin Uecker added 8 points, 8 rebounds, 3 steals and 2 blocked shots, and Ashlin Jacobsen had 7 points, 2 assists and 3 steals.
The Freeman girls play at Alcester-Hudson (5-10) in a doubleheader with the boys on Thursday and will face Gregory (6-6) at the Corn Palace on Monday, Feb. 6.
