WOLVES FALL TO AVON IN DOUBLEHEADER
Menno dropped a home doubleheader against Avon Tuesday night, Jan. 31, with the boys losing 47-26 and the girls losing 62-29.
In the boys game, Ajay Herrboldt led the scoring with 9 points while Cody Fischer went for 4. Fischer and Trent Guthmiller each had 4 rebounds and Kadeyn Ulmer had five assists and three steals. Maveric Smith added three steals for the Wolves, who shot 8-for-25 from the field and were 1-of-6 from the free-throw line. The Menno boys dropped to 3-9 while the Pirates improved to 3-11; Menno will travel to Bridgewater-Emery (7-5) Thursday, Feb. 2.
For the girls, Ashton Massey paced the Wolves with 13 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists. Allison Lehr added 9 points and Abby Bender and Julia Buechler each had 3 boards. Buechler also had 2 steals. The Wolves shot 9-for-44 from the field and fell to 3-12, while Avon improved to 7-7.
The Menno girls host Irene-Wakonda (7-7) in a doubleheader with the boys Friday night, Feb. 3.
