FHS, MHS SENIORS GRADUATE THIS SATURDAY

Twenty seniors from Freeman Public and 26 from Menno will walk across the commencement stage and receive their high school diplomas at their respective graduation ceremonies this Saturday afternoon, May 13.
Freeman Academy will hold its commencement exercises the following Saturday, May 20, as will Marion. Both of those ceremonies will begin at 2 p.m. at Pioneer Hall and at the Marion High School gym.
Here’s a closer look at what’s ahead this weekend.
Graduation at Freeman Public will begin at 2 p.m. at the high school gym and will include addresses by the three valedictorians representing the Class of 2023: Sam Gering, Brooklyn Mendel and Kate Miller.
The seniors will wear silver robes trimmed in light maroon and are graduating using the class motto: “You call it chaos; we call it family.”
Graduation at Menno will begin at 2:30 p.m. inside the school’s main gym and following a baccalaureate service sponsored and hosted by the Menno Ministerial Association, which will being at 1:30 p.m., also in the main gym.
Commencement will features addresses by Menno Student Council President Madelyn Kludt, National Honor Society President Alana Fergen and Menno Senior Class President Daniel Sayler. The seniors are graduating using black and gold as their class colors and, “We know a little about a lot of things, just enough to make us dangerous” by Dean Winchester as their class motto.

The last day of classes at area schools are as follows:
Menno is out Friday, May 12 at 1 p.m.
Freeman Public is out Tuesday, May 16 at 12 p.m.
Marion is out Friday, May 19 at 12:30 p.m.
Freeman Academy is out Thursday, May 25 at 12 p.m.
