14U STICKS ADVANCE TO VFW STATE TOURNAMENT

The 14U Sticks will be playing in the South Dakota VFW Baseball Association State Tournament

The Freeman/Marion squad advanced by defeating Tyndall 9-2 in the Region 7 championship in Scotland Wednesday night, July 12. The Sticks were undefeated in region play, also topping Centerville 9-4 and Tyndall 3-1 in the opening round on Monday.

Region 7 also included the Scotland/Menno Trappers, who lost to Tyndall 9-1 in the first game and defeated Centerville 7-2 in the second game before falling to Tyndall 9-1 in their elimination game.

The Sticks will take a 14-2 record into the eight-team state tournament, which will be held in Corsica July 21, 22 and 23.

This year’s state tournament run follows success of previous years. The 12U Sticks won the state championship last year, the 14U Sticks were state champions in 2021, the 10U Sticks were state champions in 2020 and 2018, and the 12U and 14U Sticks were both state runner-ups in 2019.
