NEW: BROSNAHAN BEGINS AS SUPERINTENDENT IN MARION

Constituents of the Marion School District are getting their first chance to meet face to face — sort of — with the district’s new superintendent, Brian Brosnahan, who started his tenure in Marion this month.
Brosnahan introduced himself and provided a look at some of what is happening in the district through the first edition of what is being called “The Marion Minute” on the school’s YouTube channel posted on July 13.
“I can’t tell you how excited I am to be here,” Brosnahan says in the 10-minute video. “I’ve had a chance to be in the office for a little over a week; I’ve had a chance to meet a number of community members as well as a number of staff members. Everyone’s been so welcoming … and I can’t wait to meet you and learn more about you and how we can hopefully work together to create a great environment here in Marion that’s full of learning opportunities and experiences for our students.”
The new superintendent says The Marion Minute is designed to help improve communication between the school and the community, with the goal of eventually including context from other groups within the district.
Brosnahan, who comes to Marion after spending the last six years as an administrator at Rutland, spoke about a number of housekeeping items of relevance leading up to the start of the 2023-24 school year and also invited the public to utilize the Marion school app (search Marion School District), which is free to download and designed for both Apple and Android devices.
“I really want to streamline our communication,” he said. “Through Apptegy — which is our web-based platform — we’re able to reach you in a number of different ways.”
And, through the YouTube video, Brosnahan shared his personal cell phone number.
“I want to make sure you have access to me,” he said. “We can’t make this work without the community and the students’ and the parents’ help … I think there are some great things coming down the pipe and I hope you’re as excited as I am.”
