AMATEUR BASEBALL: SOX, FROGS BOTH PLAY AGAIN THURSDAY

Amateur baseball teams from both Menno and Freeman can both advance to the state tournament with wins Thursday night, July 27, in Crofton, Neb.

The sixth-seed Mad Frogs will play fourth-seeded Wynot, Neb. at 6 p.m., followed by the third-seeded Blacksox taking on No. 1-seed Lesterville. The teams that win will play in the state tournament in Mitchell next month. For the teams that lose, their seasons are over.

Crofton and Tabor will play for the district championship Saturday, July 29 at 7 p.m. Despite the outcome, both will compete at state.

Freeman lost to Menno in Friday’s opening round 14-11 and Menno lost to Tabor 10-5 in Sunday’s semifinal.
