NEW: MAD FROGS ADVANCE TO STATE

For the second year in a row, Menno overcame a last-place seeding in the District 6 Amateur Baseball Tournament to advance to the state tournament. The Mad Frogs got the job done with a 5-3 win over Wynot in an elimination game in Crofton, Neb., Thursday night, July 27.

Down 3-2 after the first inning, Menno scored a run in the sixth, eighth and ninth innings thanks to timely hits — and used solid defense and outstanding pitching — to come away with the victory. The Mad Frogs will learn Sunday who they play at the state tournament, which will be held in Mitchell starting the first week of August.

The Freeman Blacksox are also looking to punch their ticket to state in an elimination game against Lesterville Thursday night.
