PHOTO OF THE DAY: OLD CHURCH

This photo shows the Salem-Zion Mennonite Church as it stood prior to 1956, when the current structure was built nearby. Salem-Zion (North) is one of two rural congregations located in Turner County east of Freeman. The other is Salem Mennonite which is located 2 1/2 miles south of the North Church. Both congregations have roots going back to the 1870s following the Germans-from-Russia migration to Dakota Territory.
