The Vietnam War Memorial is pictured with the Washington Monument in the background on Wednesday night in the nation’s capital, where Courier Publisher Jeremy Waltner has been since Tuesday. Waltner was joined in Washington, D.C. by Dave Bordewyk, executive director of the South Dakota Newspaper Association; Letti Lister, publisher of the Black Hills Pioneer, and nearly 100 other journalists and directors from across the country to lobby members of Congress in support of the bipartisan Journalism Competition and Preservation Act (JCPA, S. 1094). The JCPA would allow traditional news organizations to negotiate with Google and Facebook for a share of revenue since both internationally-used platforms already take advantage of the content they provide.
