PHOTO OF THE DAY: CHIP SUPPLY
Treyton Klein, son of Carrie and Sterling Klein, makes sure the chips are well-stocked at the Hometown Christmas/Mistletoe Market event at the Freeman Community Center Thursday evening, Nov. 30. Treyton was helping out at the food stand operated by Growing Dreams Learning Center as a fundraiser for the daycare/preschool provider. Thursday’s holiday event was held from 5 to 7 p.m. and featured a smorgasbord of activities, from crafts to shopping opportunities to bingo. Here’s how Carol Eisenbeis, developing and marketing coordinator with the city of Freeman, summarized the evening.
People of all ages, including many families with young children, filled the Freeman Community Center on Thursday evening. This marked the second consecutive year that all Hometown Christmas activities were hosted in one, indoor location by the Freeman Community Development Corporation. The event featured food, vendors, kids’ make-and-take activities, free bingo with $500 worth of Freeman Bucks as prizes, opportunities to sit and visit with friends, and, of course, meet Santa and Mrs. Claus. Based on how the event played out and the positive feedback received, organizers are already planning to continue this newly-established tradition next year.
