FREEMAN GIRLS, BOYS LOSE TO HOWARD
Looking for their fourth win in as many games to start the season, the Freeman High School girls fell behind by double-digits, cut the lead to two points with less than a minute to play, but couldn’t complete the comeback, falling to Howard 41-37 in their home-opener Monday night, Dec. 18.
The Tigers improve to 4-2.
Seniors Ashlin Jacobsen and Cami Fransen paced the Flyers with 17 and 11 points, and Peyton McCune dished out five assists. Rylee Peters and Ella Waltner each had a pair of steals.
Peters and Vaida Ammann were leading rebounders with five apiece.
Freeman shot 19-for-51 from the field and 5-of-22 from three-point range.

FHS boys 36, Howard 58
A strong second half helped give Howard the surge it needed to pull away from the Freeman boys; the Tigers took down the Flyers 58-36 to improve to 2-1 while Freeman fell to 1-3. The Flyers trailed 13-8 after one and 20-14 at the half.
Senior Rocky Ammann had 13 points and a blocked shot to lead Freeman. Freshman Tate Sorensen had four rebounds, junior Sawyer Wipf had a pair of assists and Chris Aasen and Luke Peters each had two steals for the Flyer boys, who are now off until after Christmas.
