JACOBSEN LEADS FLYERS TO WIN OVER COLMAN-EGAN
A 19-point first quarter and 19 points overall from Senior Ashlin Jacobsen powered the Freeman Public girls to a 49-40 win over Colman-Egan in Freeman Thursday night, Dec. 21. The Flyers, who received votes in this week’s South Dakota Media Basketball Poll, improved to 4-1 while the Hawks dropped to 5-2.
Freeman led 19-9 after the first quarter, 31-16 at the half and by as many as 16 in the fourth quarter before holding off a late-game rally by Colman-Egan to secure the nine-point win.
In addition to her 19 points, Jacobsen had three steals, and senior Cami Fransen led the rebounding effort with nine boards.
The Flyers travel to Irene-Wakonda (0-4) on Jan. 2 in a doubleheader with the boys.
