PHOTO OF THE DAY: ELECTION DAY IN MARION
This was the scene outside the east entrance of the school in Marion Tuesday morning, Jan. 16 as voters weighed in on a $6.5 million bond election to help fund the first two phases of a three-phase Master Plan to renovate the outdated campus. Poll workers said that traffic had been steady since voting began at 7 a.m., and by 11 a.m., 82 votes had been cast. Workers also said they expect an influx of traffic later this afternoon as a home basketball doubleheader is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m., with games continuing through 7 p.m., when polls close.
There are 1,045 registered voters living in the Marion School District and the bond measure needs a super majority of 60% to pass.
Watch this site this evening as election results will be posted as soon as information is available from the school’s business office.
