MENNO SCHOOL BOARD PASSES EXPANDED TRAPPERS CO-OP
It took the Menno School Board of Education under three minutes to approve an expanded sports cooperative with neighboring Scotland. With nobody offering public comment and no discussion among board members or administration, the motion to include boys and girls basketball, track and wrestling to the existing partnership passed 4-1 shortly after the meeting was called to order. Tim Freier was the lone “no” vote.
The motion came from Brent Rames and was seconded by Barry Schmidt.
With the Scotland School Board approving the expanded cooperative earlier this month, the additional sports will be played jointly along with football, golf and softball starting with the 2024-25 school year and continuing in 2025-26; Menno and Scotland also play youth and Teener baseball together.
Volleyball and cross-country are the only two sports not included in the two schools’ Trappers cooperative.
