FHS GIRLS ESCAPE CANISTOTA IN OVERTIME

The Freeman girls battled back from a 14-point second half deficit to force overtime and then won the final 4 minutes of play 9-6 to come away with a 63-60 victory over Canistota in Canistota Thursday night, Jan. 25.

The win moved the Flyers to 10-2 while the Hawks dropped to 5-7.

Freeman led 7-0 early and 11-10 after the first quarter but trailed 27-19 at the half before Canistota opened up a 41-27 lead late in the third period.

Freeman finished the game on a 36-19 run.

Ashlin Jacobsen led the way with 15 points while Cami Fransen and Peyton McCune each netted 11. Fransen had nine rebounds, and Rylee Peters had five assists and two blocked shots for Freeman, which hosts Scotland (1-10) Tuesday, Jan. 30.
