AMMANN POWERS FLYERS PAST PIRATES
Rocky Ammann’s 26 points helped power the Freeman Public boys past the Pirates of Avon in non-conference action Friday night in Avon. The senior also had six rebounds, five steals, 4 blocked shots and three steals in what was a 78-62 win for the Flyers, who move to 7-3 on the season. Avon drops to 1-9.
Freeman led 38-22 at the half but Avon used a 10-0 run to cut into the deficit, and by the end of the third quarter the game was tied at 49.
But the Flyers quickly turned the game back in their favor and took final period 29-13 to win their sixth game in a row.
In addition to Ammann line, Freeman saw 14 points from sophomore Luke Peters and 11 points, seven assists and six rebounds from sophomore Tate Sorensen. Eighth grader David Walter scored nine points and had four rebounds and four assists.
The Flyers host Scotland (1-11) in a doubleheader with the girls Tuesday, Jan. 30.
