PHOTO OF THE DAY: ACTING OUT
This is the front page photo included with this week’s Courier and is accompanied by the following explanation:
Theater students from Marion High School took the stage at Brandon Valley last week for the South Dakota High School Activities Association State One-Act Festival. Pictured are, top from left: Elizabeth Piehl, Harley Crooks, Hadley Luke, Isabelle McConniel, Jackson Donlan and Kallie Johnson; and, right, Domani Butler. While the production of “Elephant’s Graveyard” did not earn an overall superior, eight actors won individual superior honors: Crooks, Luke, McConniel, Emma McConniel, Johnson, Butler, Karley Luke and Morgan Tieszen. Nicolle Timmerman, who helped direct the production, said the play is a poetic story of a how a small town in Tennessee hung an elephant told through the eyes of both the townspeople and the traveling circus that owned the elephant.
