PHOTO OF THE DAY ‘END OF AN ERA’
In what athletic director Jacque Liebl called “the end of an era,” Menno hosted Freeman Academy/Marion in a doubleheader Thursday night, Feb. 15 — the final home basketball games that Menno will play as the Wolves.
Menno will be joining Scotland starting next season in an expanded Trappers cooperative that includes all athletics except volleyball, cross-country and boys wrestling. Liebl’s comment came prior to the introduction of starting lineups for the boys.
And it was a win for the girls, who downed the Bearcats 51-40 to claim their second victory of the season. Menno finishes its regular season 2-18 while the FA/Marion girls finish 3-17.
In the boys game, the Bearcats used a strong second half to pull away from the Wolves en route to a 73-49 victory. FA/Marion improved to 7-12 while Menno dropped to 1-18.
The Menno boys close out their regular season Friday night at Scotland while the FA/Marion — which has won four of its last six games — finish against Avon at the Great Plains Classic in Scotland on Saturday afternoon.
