PHOTO OF THE DAY: PREMATCH RITUAL
Marion-Freeman head wrestling coach Chris Sayler and Marion senior Sarah Cremer stand at attention for the singing of the national anthem just before 10 a.m. Thursday morning — the first day of the all-class South Dakota High School Activities Association State Wrestling Championships. Wrestling at 114 lbs., Cremer (11-10) was the first to take the mat for the Rebels and fell to Rapid City Central seventh grader Langston Huffman (39-7) by fall at 1:18. Cremer will take the mat again in the first round consolation bracket Friday morning and will face Brookings sophomore Bailey Tekrony (16-8) in an elimination match.
The boys will take the mat in their first-round matches following the girls’ opening round.
Logun Pankratz (106), Brody Gossen (113), Easton Tschetter (120) and Keaton Preheim (132) are representing the Marion-Freeman boys.
