PHOTO OF THE DAY: CLEANUP ON POPLAR STREET
Max Unruh helps load ruined items from the family’s flooded basement onto a trailer Saturday afternoon, less than 24 hours after torrential rains finally came to an end. The Freeman community was on the receiving end of about 14 inches of rainfall dating back to early Monday morning, June 17, most of which came Thursday night, Friday and into Saturday morning. The impact on the community was significant, with many — like the Patrick and Courtney Unruh family — left to deal with the mess.
