PHOTO OF THE DAY: CHANGE IN VENUE
The 3 p.m. program will focus on the emigration of Germans from Russia from the area now known as Ukraine in southern Russia to Dakota Territory; one the ships used for the travel — the SS of Richmond — is pictured.
This is the second in a three-part series of moderated panel discussions featuring Dan Flyger, Marnette (Ortman) Hofer, Norman Hofer and S. Roy Kaufman that explore various aspects of the 150th anniversary of that migration that began in 1874.
The program will include the history and perspectives of Hutterite, Lutheran, Low German Mennonite, Reformed and Swiss Amish immigrants who all settled in southeastern Dakota Territory.
Admission to the program includes opportunity to tour the museum before and after the Sunday program – 1 to 5 p.m. Those attending the program are encouraged to pay their admission at the museum prior to going to the Interpretive Center. HHM&A members are reminded to bring their patron passes with them.
