Riley Tschetter looks for room to run against Parkston’s defense in Friday’s night’s season-opener in Freeman. The junior quarterback and his team, Freeman/Marion/Freeman Academy, were looking to make a statement against the defending Class 9AA state champions, but the No. 1-ranked Trojans made a statement themselves, taking down the Phoenix 42-14 on what was an otherwise beautiful night for football. Tschetter threw for 215 yards, with touchdown passes to Dominic Sperling and Karter Weber, and also led the team in rushing with 31 yards. Parkston, meanwhile, was powered by standout Kolter Kramer, who ran for 210 yards and three touchdowns — including one that went for 98 yards — and also returned a punt for a 66-yard score.
