United States Congressman Dusty Johnson offers brief remarks Tuesday morning, Sept. 3 at the official ribbon-cutting/open house at Dakota Protein Solutions, an animal processing facility located a mile east/southeast of Freeman. Johnson, who is South Dakota’s lone member of the U.S. House of Representatives, was among about a dozen distinguished guests that included other elected officials and investors in the project, the planning for which began in 2019. Scott Stern, a local investor, said animals will begin arriving for the rendering process in the next 10 days to two weeks, and the plant should be running at full capacity by the first of the new year.
