POWER SHOW RETURNS TO MENNO THIS WEEKEND
What began as a relatively unassuming exhibition on the Menno City Park nearly 40 years ago will return once again, not to the park, but to Pioneer Acres on the north edge of town, where the Pioneer Power Show continues to grow and flourish with every passing year.
Exhibits and demonstrations will take place Saturday morning and afternoon, Sept. 21, and again on Sunday as machines big and small will set a scene that celebrates the use of steam as it was well over 100 years ago. Exhibits open at 9 a.m. both days with various activates peppered throughout the two-day event that draws thousands from the area and well beyond.
Among the attractions:
- Steam demonstrations from 10:30 a.m. to noon and from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, and from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Sunday;
- An antique car and tractor parade at noon on Saturday and again at 3 p.m. on Sunday;
- An antique tractor and pickup pull at 3 p.m. on Saturday and a mini rod pull at noon on Sunday;
- The Menno Community Club’s breakfast and lunch pancake feed — nearly as old as the Power Show itself — that will take place in the Big Red Barn from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday;
- There will also be live music, games for children and other food stands available throughout both days.
- This year’s special features include ICH tractors, ICH engines and ICH vehicles, with the South Dakota #21 International Harvester Collectors Club hosting its annual meeting at this year’s Power Show.
