McConniel and McCune are among the top runners in all of Class B and showed it on Wednesday, finishing first and second in the boys varsity division. McConniel won in a time of 17:16.35 and McCune was the runner up with a 17:35.19 clocking.
McConniel has the fastest time in all of South Dakota among Class B runners with a 16:00.01 — four seconds in front of last year’s state champion, Silas Holdeman of Mitchell Christian — while McCune is sitting 13th with a 17:27.8 posting.
In addition to a boys and girls race, Wednesday’s Flyer Invitational also including junior varsity and junior high divisions.
