This photo offers a good look at Freeman’s downtown business district as it was in the 1920s or 1930s. A number of the buildings pictured are still standing, including three on the right between Gross Cafe and Hotel and the large brick building with the big canopy. Freeman Main Street began developing rapidly from the north to the south after the depot opened in 1888.
