PHOTO OF THE DAY: GROUNDBREAKING
Wednesday morning, Oct. 23 marked the day that ground was broken for the new maintenance shed being built at Freeman Public Schools. Here, Watertown-based general contractor Sentry uses an excavator to begin the process that will continue through the year, with completion scheduled for next March. The 2000-square-foot, post-frame building is being built north of the school’s west parking lot and will have a basic finish interior with metal siding and will include office space, a single-stall bathroom and a mezzanine for additional storage. It is being constructed for just under $450,000 using existing Capital Outlay funds.
The construction project is necessary because space that had been used for maintenance storage is no longer available because of a significant expansion of the district’s CTE curriculum.
This is the second significant capital project at Freeman Public the past few years; The Hangar, a multi-use facility that also serves as home to the Marion/Freeman Rebels wrestling program opened on the east side of the school building two years ago.
