FLYERS, TRAPPERS OPEN GIRLS SEASONS WITH WINS
The Freeman High School girls handled Platte-Geddes with ease while Scotland/Menno pulled away from Bridgewater-Emery late as both team notched wins in the opening games of their 2024-25 seasons Tuesday night, Dec. 10.
The Flyers beat the Black Panthers 54-12 in Freeman while the Trappers — playing in their first game as a basketball cooperative — took care of the Huskies 44-36 in Menno.
Freeman was led by senior guard Peyton McCune’s 18 points while sophomore Rylee Peters added another 11. Both had four steals, as did sophomore Cadence Hofer.
Scotland/Menno saw a team-high 12 points from junior Lexie McNinch while senior Ellyana Ulmer went for eight. Senior Trinity Bietz yanked down 13 rebounds to lead the Trappers on the boards.
