PHOTO OF THE DAY: A NEW ERA
A new era of high school basketball will begin tonight — Tuesday, Dec. 10 — when players from Scotland and Menno take the court together in their girls basketball season-opener. The Trappers will host Bridgewater-Emery in Menno, with the JV game set to begin at 6:15 p.m. The Freeman Public girls also open their 2024-25 season tonight at home against Platte-Geddes, also with a 6:15 p.m. JV start. The Freeman Academy/Marion girls, meanwhile, already have three games under their belt — a 41-11 win over Parker on Dec. 5, a 37-6 victory over Colome on Dec. 7 and a 58-23 loss to Chester Area on Dec. 9. The Bearcats are in action again on Saturday at Bridgewater-Emery.
The Scotland/Menno boys start Dec. 12 at Tripp-Delmont/Armour, the Freeman Public boys being Dec. 13 at home against Viborg-Hurley and the FA/Marion boys travel to Centerville on Dec. 17 for their opener.
Watch for more on the girls seasons in this week’s Courier.
