PHOTO OF THE DAY: SLEIGHING MONDAY

Wintry weather makes one nostalgic for old-time transportation, like this one-horse sleigh donated by Jim Adrian. Sleighs were large and sturdy enough to carry a family and their runners were close together to make easy turns. The two seats on this one could be removed to allow for cargo hauling; the sides have paintings of pinecones and the back features a rural winter scene. The reality of riding in one of these was probably quite different, but it sure seems like a romantic way to travel!
