PHOTO OF THE DAY: MEMORABLE VISIT
On this President’s Day, it fitting to look back to Feb. 5, 1988 when United State Vice President and Republican presidential candidate George H.W. Bush chose Freeman as a campaign stop. The rally was held at what was then the Freeman High School gym — today the community center — and drew about 1,200 guests, including 500 Freeman Public students. Bush’s appearance included introductory remarks, but the majority of it was a 30-minute question and answer session with the audience.
Bush went on to defeat Michael Dukakis by a landslide and served as United States President from 1989 to 1993.
