PHOTO OF THE DAY: AS SEEN IN 1978
This photo shows a renovation of the old K&K store on Freeman’s Main Street prior to a series of businesses that would come and go inside those walls in the 1980s and 1990s, including The Village Toggery and The Carriage House. Bob Pidde moved his grocery store, Jamboree Foods, into the building in 1994 and it remains home to what is now a third-generation business. Also pictured is the distinctive Merchants State Bank prior to its expansion to the empty lot next door and its eventual removal. The Merchants State Bank that exists to day was a renovation and expansion project completed in the final years of the 20th century and earliest part of the 21st century.
