PHOTO OF THE DAY: BRINGING THE PAST TO LIFE
Freeman Academy third grader Trevor Paff portrays Oscar Howe, the famous South Dakota painter, at the school’s living wax museum Monday evening, March 17. Headed up by Amber Bradley, director of instruction and the school’s 5-6 teacher, the project was part of the history curriculum and included 12 students in grades 3-6 playing the part of various state and national figures of prominence. Those attending were invited to move from room to room on the first floor of the administration building and “wake up” each historical figure — from Annie Oakley to Laura Ingalls Wilder to Daniel Boone — to hear a little bit about his or her life. All research and presentations were done and prepared by the students as part of the curriculum.
