The Freeman High School boys basketball team is returning home today with this plaque after a 1-2 showing at the 2025 State B Basketball Tournament in Aberdeen March 21, 22 and 23. A welcome home is planned at the FHS gym Sunday at 1 p.m.
The Flyers lost to Viborg-Hurley 72-44 in the opening round, defeated Aberdeen Christian 52-44 in the consolation bracket before falling to Wall 79-67 in the consolation championship.
Top-seed Castlewood took the Class B title with a 52-31 win over third-seed Viborg-Hurley in Saturday night’s championship game.
Second-seed Dell Rapids St. Mary placed third with a 71-54 win over fourth-seed Wessington Springs.
And seventh-seed Aberdeen Christian placed seventh with a 64-46 win over fifth-seed Lyman.
Freeman finishes its best season in 26 years with a 20-6 record.
