Darwin Schoenwald, 70 of Marion, S.D., passed away on Sept. 3, 2022 at the Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, S.D. A memorial service was scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 8 at the Hofmeister-Jones Funeral Chapel, Marion.

Dorothy Preheim, 82, of Freeman, S.D., passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 9 at Oakview Terrace in Freeman. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 10 at the Salem-Zion Mennonite Church. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 9 at the Prairie Arboretum on the campus of Freeman Academy. 

Evelyn Rae Johnson was born to Stefanie and Taylor Johnson on July 27, 2022 at 5:05 p.m. at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D. She weighed only 11.3 oz., but was precious and perfect in every way. Everyone loved her beautiful button nose, tiny fingers and toes and soft blond hair. She amazed her family, the doctors, and nurses every day with her strength and feisty personality. She hated diaper changes and getting her temperature checked but she loved her pacifier, holding hands and touches from Mom and Dad.

Marriette Schultz, 85, of Bridgewater, S.D., passed away on Aug. 18, 2022 at the Diamond Care Center in Bridgewater. A visitation was scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 24 at the United Methodist Church of Alexandria, S.D., from 5 to 7 p.m. with prayer service at 7 p.m. Burial will take place on Friday, Aug. 26 at 11 a.m. at the Green Hill Cemetery of Alexandria. 

Marvis Elrene (Becker) Graber, 88, was greeted by Jesus, her family and a multitude of friends as she entered her eternal home on Aug. 16, 2022. Marvis was born on Sept. 14, 1933 to Bernard J. and Minnie J. (Deckert) Becker on a farm near Dolton, S.D., and joined three older brothers. She loved living the farm life, enjoying the barn kittens and following her big brothers around. She excelled in a small country school and later graduated from Marion High School in 1951.

Orville Huber, 84, of Freeman, S.D., passed away on Aug. 20, 2022 at Freeman Regional  Health Services in Freeman, S.D. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 3 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Freeman. Visitation will be Friday, Sept. 2 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the church.

A funeral service for Kahlen Salis will be held on Thursday, Aug. 25 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Paul Lutheran Church of Freeman. Visitation will be Wednesday, Aug. 24 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the church. As Kahlen enjoyed doing many arts and crafts, with tie-dying being her favorite, please feel free to wear tie-dye clothing or her favorite colors; pink, purple and light blue to the visitation and funeral service.  

Mary Glanzer, 89, of Bridgewater, passed away on Aug. 18 at Oakview Terrace in Freeman. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 27 at 10:30 a.m. at the Salem MB church (located at 43173 272nd St.) of rural Bridgewater. Visitation and viewing will be Friday Aug. 26 at the church from 5 to 7 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m.   

Evelyn Hofer, 83, of Bridgewater, S.D., passed away on Aug. 6, 2022 at her home under hospice care. A funeral service is scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 10 at 2 p.m. at Zion Bible Church of Bridgewater. Visitation will be on Tuesday Aug. 9th at the church from 5-7 pm.

Leona Katherina Koerner was born June 19, 1921 to Henry and Karolina (Mehlhaf) Streyle in the Freeman/Menno, S.D. area. Leona passed away July 24, 2022 at the age of 101 in Oakview Terrace nursing home in Freeman.
